Sour diesel is a popular strain that likely derived from the original “Diesel” strain. It could have also been developed from a phenotype of Chemdawg, or possibly a cross between Chemdawg and Northern Lights, maybe with some Skunk #1 thrown in. This strain has also led to strains like Sour Tsunami and Sour Jack. It even inspired NYC Diesel. The popularity and subsequent strains Sour Diesel has spawned are in part due to its unique, fuel-like smell. When smoked, the flavor is skunky and citrusy. Sour Diesel produces a dominating head high with a more subtle relaxing body high when used.
Sour Diesel needs a somewhat humid environment with a mild temperature to flourish, so if it is grown outdoors, it is best grown in a Mediterranean climate. The plants are tall and spindly, reaching around four feet. Its round buds have yellowish green leaves and red pistils for a lovely contrast.
